Since 1972, Northwest Bank of Rockford has proudly served the Rockford region with dependable, relationship-driven community banking. What began as a single branch on North Rockton Avenue has grown to multiple Rockford locations — including East State, Machesney Park, and Perryville— each led by local bankers committed to the communities they serve.
In 1989, Northwest Bank joined Foresight Financial Group, aligning with a family of locally owned community banks across northern Illinois that shared the same commitment to relationship-driven service and local decision-making. Together with German American State Bank, State Bank of Davis, State Bank, Freeport, Lena State Bank, and State Bank of Herscher, this partnership strengthened our collective foundation while preserving each bank’s community identity.
A New Chapter: Northwest Bank, a Division of Foresight Bank
As of May 1, 2025, Northwest Bank proudly became a division of Foresight Bank, uniting our six long-standing community banks under one name and one charter — while maintaining our local leadership and commitment to the Rockford area.
Together, we now form the largest locally headquartered and managed bank in the region, combining decades of trusted service with the technology, efficiency, and strength of a unified organization.
A Natural Next Step: Moving Forward as Foresight Bank
Building on this foundation, Northwest Bank will transition to the Foresight Bank name across our Rockford locations. While we’ve long operated as part of the Foresight organization, this step brings everything together under one name—aligning our branches with the banking experience customers already see today.
While the name is evolving, our local leadership, familiar teams, and commitment to the Rockford community remain the same.
